Did you see the movie Meet the Parents?  It is a comical movie about a young man meeting his girlfriend’s parents for the first time. Robert DeNiro, plays the girls father, a retired CIA agent and he is determining whether the character Ben Stiller plays (Greg Focker), is good enough for his daughter. DeNiro calls it the circle of trust. Very cute and funny movie!

Do you have a circle of trust? A person, a friend, a family member, or college, you feel you can share the details of your life with? Do you have Someone you share your dreams, goals, fears, and finances with?

We live such compartmentalized lives. We have work friends, extended family friends, church friends. Then there are the clubs, parent groups and sports teams. Everyone neatly in their little place. But who do we really share our lives with? Who do we trust?

I believe friendships should be deliberate, not just by association.

Qualities I look for in a friend; positive mindset, goal achievers, adventurous, loving, funny, gracious. Someone who knows what they want out of life and goes for it.

I also do enjoy surface friendships, but I know they are not the ones that I trust with my dreams, goals, and heart.

During this time in history, this pandemic has challenged us to evaluate our lives how we spend our time and who we spend our time with. What is important to us and what are we willing to let go of. Things such as having our hair coloured every two to three weeks, time spent in transit to the office, I’m interested to see how that ones going to playout in the future, will it ever go back to the 9-5 in the office? These are just a couple of things, that are changing in regards to whom and where we are willing to spend our time and what’s important us?

Also, it required us to create the list of five to ten people we are willing to let into our lives.

Who are they? What is it about them that you would want them to remain close? These people, I hope you would consider your circle of trust.

Is your financial planner within your circle of trust? Do you feel comfortable to open up and reveal to him/her your goals, dreams, wants and why?

If not, why not? Is it you? Are you not willing to open, or is it him/her only sticking to the product planning?

We at DO financial what to change this, we want to be within your circle of trust, we want to hear ALL about you. your wants, dreams and why, these are fundamental to why we do, what we do.

We want to be trusted with these precious gifts and help you create a path that leads you to your vision of the perfect life.  Whole Picture Planning means the whole thing, past present and future. Fears joys and anticipations, the whole enchilada!
